What is the YouTube description character limit?
Google’s YouTube Help articles on uploading and editing video settings state the limit in plain language: 5,000 characters. Spaces, line breaks, URLs, timestamps, and emoji all sit inside that budget.
5,000 characters is on the order of 800–1,000 English words. You almost never need to fill it. You need to order it so a viewer who only reads the first screen still gets the point and the link.
