What counts toward 150
Count everything you type into the bio box: letters, spaces, punctuation, line breaks, emoji, @names, and #tags. The website row on a profile is a separate control—it does not spend bio characters unless you also type the URL into the bio.
A simple way to write a 150-character bio
- Write the sentence in notes, not in the app.
- Pick one job: creator, shop, local service, or personal page.
- Front-load the useful words in the first 40–60 characters.
- Check the character number locally and stop near 140 so a last emoji does not bounce you.
- Paste into Instagram and accept the in-app count as final.
